Congress leader Siddaramaiah sworn-in as the 22nd Chief Minister of Karnataka. The 64-year-old backward class leader from Mysore sworn in at the Kanteerava Stadium in Bangalore. Almost 50,000 were present at the stadium.
Siddaramaiah, who led the Congress party to victory in the assembly elections in Karnataka, took oath as the 22nd chief minister of the state at a massive function in Bangalore's Sree Kanteerava Stadium on Monday. Governor HR Bhardwaj administered the oath of office and secrecy to Siddaramaiah.
Now that the Congress has bagged a thumping victory in Karnataka Assembly elections, all eyes are set on who will be the Chief Minister of Karnataka. Union Labour Minister and senior leader from Karnataka Mallikarjun Kharge is among the front-runners.
With the Congress making a spectacular comeback in Karnataka, the race for the post of Chief Minister has narrowed down to senior party leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and K Siddaramaiah. Interacting with media persons in Bangalore, K. Siddaramaiah on Thursday said that the decision on chief ministership was left to the Congress high command and the legislature party.
